Personal Stories of Recovery

Tiara Triana thrives thanks to wellness commitment

Tiara Triana’s world continues to thrive — with Tiara's growth the driving force behind it.

When her story was originally published in Stairways’ enewsletter in August 2014, she had overcome addiction to drugs and alcohol and was attending school and looking after her 9-year-old daughter, Elishia.

Nearly two years later, Tiara has maintained her sobriety and is “finally loving life and all it has to offer,” as she puts it.

After struggling with substance issues for much of her life, Tiara spent more than two years in prison for committing distribution of cocaine in 2007.

She has now completed the subsequent five-year probation sentence, is at peace with her past and looking forward to her future—a one that continues to look bright.

Tiara is now engaged and holding an assistant manager job at a local convenience store. She built her finances and credit to purchase a new car and is saving for a house.

In addition, Tiara has lost 45 pounds, crediting her exercise regimen with her daughter, Elishia.

Tiara is especially grateful for the support she has received from her Blended Case Manager Melissa Merriam.

“Melissa has had a huge role in all of this. She has kept me on my toes and in line when I felt like I was falling apart,” she said. “She is not just my BCM, she is my friend.”

As Tiara’s world continues to flourish, she never forgets from what it has grown.

"I couldn't ask for a better life at this point," she said.
